Empowering government to announce emergency situations was introduced to Duma

Is the situation with COVID-19 becoming emergency?

The government introduced a bill to the State Duma, according to which it will be able to introduce an emergency and emergency preparedness regime within the whole of Russia or in its separate parts. The document is presented in the Legislation Support System.

The Cabinet will be able to regulate the conditions of introduction and protection measures in case of emergency. The project suggests that the government will be able to coordinate a unified state system for preventing and eliminating emergencies. The list of emergency situations will be supplemented by the spread of diseases dangerous to the population of the country.

Despite the fact that the Preseint’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that there is no need to introduce an emergency in Russia, the state is preparing for the worst.

As of March 26, there have been 840 cases of coronavirus registered in Russia, across 56 regions. Two patients died.

In total, more than 478.3 thousand cases of COVID-19 disease in the world, 21.5 thousand people died from the virus, and more than 115.6 thousand patients recovered.

In general, the situation remains difficult — on March 26, 182 cases of new diseases were recorded in Russia, and this is a fairly high figure, however incomparable with the incidence in Europe — in the Netherlands alone, more than a thousand people were infected per day.

Representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) suggest that Russia will not suffer the “Italian scenario” with a large number of infections and deaths, since the country currently has a different healthcare system. This was stated by the representative of WHO in Russia, Dr. Melita Vujnovich.

Optimization of healthcare in Russia is in full swing, and perhaps if it continues this way, in ten years not only Europe, but also our country will follow the “Italian scenario”. The destruction of the Soviet health care system is fraught with cataclysms far greater than epidemics; it threatens the elimination of children and the elderly — all those who, one way or another, are at risk in the face of any threats to life and health.
